TowTimes
A Florida tow operator was killed Monday, May 2, when a pickup he was towing struck him. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the operator had repossessed the pickup and was towing it when he pulled over at Southeast Second Street at Southeast 54th Court. He exited the tow truck and went underneath the pickup, perhaps detecting a problem, police said. The tow truck, which police said was not in park, rolled forward and the pickup dragged the operator approximately 30 feet. A person saw the truck called 911. Medical personnel arrived and the man was pronounced deceased. A 9-year-old boy, unrelated to the victim, was in the vehicle at the time, a news report stated, and was uninjured. The Florida Highway Patrol, which no longer releases names of traffic fatality victims, is investigating the incident. rreschran
What a horrible death that sends a chilling reminder to make sure truck transmissions are in neutral and the E-Brake is set before exiting the tow truck. Christine and I send our prayers to the tower's family and the company he worked for. R&C Quote Randall C. Resch
