Special guest from Heavy Rescue: 401 appears during Sarnia pedestrian pilot project

A new Sarnia tow truck is expected to debut during the upcoming season of Heavy Rescue: 401, but several residents and tourists were able to catch a sneak peek of the machine Saturday.

A red 2020 Rotator was parked along Christina Street for a few hours during the latest edition of the city’s new weekend-only pedestrian zone pilot project. It will be Preferred Towing’s latest truck to appear on the Discovery Canada reality series when season five debuts in January.

Tammy and Gary Vandenheuvel – Preferred Towing owners – and their son Collin were on site mingling with interested passersby, including excited six-year-old Sarnia resident Terrel MacDonald, who happily collected an autographed poster from the trio. It looked like it would have been a tight squeeze getting the large vehicle there with the Sarnia Street Cruisers lining both sides of the street.
