News reports say the tow operator missing after a Wednesday morning traffic crash on the Don Holt Bridge in Charleston, S.C., was knocked off the bridge in the impact of the crash.

A Charleston County Sheriff’s Office deputy was seriously injured and the tow truck operator missing after a pickup truck towing a trailer hit the rear of the deputy’s cruiser as the deputy and the tow operator assisted a disabled vehicle on the bridge.
Multiple agencies including the Coast Guard are searching for the operator using boats and helicopters.
