TowNews Posted November 15, 2019 Share Posted November 15, 2019 Black bear struck and killed by vehicle in Owen Sound The 250-pound black bear was hit by a truck on a main street inside city limits, police say A 250-pound black bear was struck and killed by a tow truck on a main street in Owen Sound early Thursday morning. Owen Sound police say the incident happened just inside city limits on 16th Street E. at about 2:30 a.m. near a big-box shopping complex. According to police, the vehicle was travelling westbound when it collided with the bear. "When the police arrived on scene, they realized that the bear has succumbed to its injuries as a result of the collision," said Jason Cranny, community service officer for Owen Sound police. Cranny said the bear died on impact. The driver of the vehicle was not injured.
