TowNews Posted October 30, 2019 Share Posted October 30, 2019 BELTON, TX — An 18-wheeler traveling south near the I-14 overpass on southbound I-35 struck several vehicles, including tow truck and a Belton fire engine around 2:30am Tuesday. "Belton firefighters were assisting at an accident when an 18-wheeler hit the fire truck and the wrecker," said Belton spokesperson Paul Romer. The fire truck was on the scene of an accident blocking lanes for an earlier wreck when the 18-wheeler struck the fire engine, a tow truck and a car it was pulling. Officials say firefighters were in the engine when it was hit. Three firefighters suffered minor injuries. They were transported to Scott & White Hospital as a precaution. There is significant damage to the fire engine, which had to be towed from the scene. No further details about the tow truck are available at this time. Belton Fire Department released this statement and images. Belton Engine-1 was struck this morning while on scene of an accident on IH-35. Three firefighters were injured and transported to Scott and White in Temple. Thankfully all had minor injuries and have since been released from the hospital. Please slow down and move over!
