Tow truck plunges off freeway and into canal (CA)

EL CAJON, Calif. (KGTV) - A tow truck swerved off state Route 67 in El Cajon and plunged into a water-filled canal in El Cajon Thursday evening.

 

The crash happened around 6 p.m. in the middle of the wet, rainy conditions. 10News learned said the ditch the tow truck ended up in was about five feet deep.

 

The tow truck owner said another car merged in front of his driver, causing his driver to swerve and lose control. The tow truck smashed through a fence line and into a canal near Parkway Plaza.

 

The owner said the tow truck was totaled but his driver was OK.

 

It took about an hour to remove the tow truck from the ditch.
