Mark E. Modzelewski, 67, of Brookfield, CT
April 14, 1950 - January 15, 2018:
 
Mark, passed away unexpectedly on Monday evening, January 15, 2018 at Danbury Hospital. He was the husband of Karin M. (Fredericks) Modzelewski.

Mark was born in Danbury, CT to the Ruth A. (Nagle) Modzelewski of Danbury and the late John C. Modzelewski, Sr. He attended the Emmanuel Lutheran School in Danbury and was a 1969 graduate of Henry Abbott Technical School in Danbury.

The owner of Modzelewski's Autobody Works, Inc., Mark founded the business in 1971. Establishing locations in Danbury and New Milford, he specialized in collision repair, mechanical and towing services.

In his younger years, Mark was active with the Southern New York Racing Association (SNYRA) at the former Danbury Racearena, and had remained a lifelong supporter. He was also a gentleman farmer maintaining thirteen cows at his Brookfield farm.

The consummate entertainer, Mark loved to be surrounded by his friends and loved ones. He cherished his family and especially his five grandchildren.

Mark was first to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He worked tirelessly and was the definition of selflessness.

Besides his father, Mark was predeceased by his sister, Sandra Weiner.

Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Karin M. (Fredericks) Modzelewski. His children: Kerri Worthington and her husband, Edward, of Marathon, FL; James E. Modzelewski and his wife, Lauren, of Danbury, CT; Capt. Katie L. Modzelewski (USMC) of San Diego, CA; and Richard J. Modzelewski and his wife, Kelly, of Chapel Hill, TN. His grandchildren: Edward IV, Andrew, Maverick, Richey and Stella. His siblings: Cheryl Dekany (Steven), John C. Modzelewski (Debbie) and Carol Modzelewski. Many nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 11am on Saturday, Jan. 20, 2018 at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 119 Junction Rd., Brookfield, CT.

Burial will be at the convenience of the family.

Friends will be received from 4pm-8pm on Friday, Jan 19, 2018 at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury, CT.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mark's memory may be made to the Danbury Police Benevolent Association, 375 Main St., Danbury, CT 06810 or to the Cardiology Dept. of Danbury Hospital, c/o Western CT Health Network Foundation, 24 Hospital Ave., Danbury, CT 06810
