The suspected DUII driver rear-ended a police vehicle that was blocking traffic on I-205 to make space for a tow truck late Tuesday night.

PORTLAND, Ore. — Two Portland police officers were injured on Interstate 205 late Tuesday night when their SUV was struck by a driver suspected of being under the influence. Both officers were hospitalized, but were treated and then released Wednesday morning, according to the Portland Police Bureau.

 

The driver who struck the police vehicle was also hospitalized and later released, and has been arrested on charges of reckless driving and driving under the influence of intoxicants. Investigators believe impairment was a factor in the crash, police said. Brent W. Bussell, 48, was booked in Multnomah County jail.
