TowForce
It is one of our worst fears. If it is not deer, it is persons crossing the roadway. Deer are Fast, People are Slow, and generally wear dark clothing at night. I doubt that any of us can say we have not had to take action to avoid such occurrences. LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A man is dead after he was hit by a tow truck in the east Las Vegas valley. On Sunday around 7:00 p.m., Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department officials responded to a crash near the intersection of Nellis Boulevard and Sahara Avenue. According to police, a Ford tow truck traveling west on Sahara Avenue struck the man, who police say was running across westbound lanes. Surveillance footage indicated that the tow truck driver used the brakes and swerved to avoid hitting the man but was unable to avert the crash. The man, identified as a 67-year-old from Las Vegas, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. The driver of the tow truck remained at the scene. Impairment does not appear to be a factor in the crash, police said. While the collision remains under investigation, the man’s death represents the 146th traffic-related death in LVMPD’s jurisdiction for 2023.
