The crash happened around 10:15 p.m. Sunday night and involved a tow truck and another vehicle. A coroner was called to the scene. No other details have been confirmed at this time. CHP had closed the #2 lane of southbound Highway 101 from Laurel Drive to North Main Street as well as the North Main Street off ramp, but those have since been reopened. Monterey County, California (April 17, 2023) – The California Highway Patrol is investigating a deadly collision that killed one person on Sunday night in Salinas. The accident occurred at about 10:16 p.m. on April 16 on southbound Highway 101 near Main Street. Police confirmed two cars, believed to be a tow truck and a black SUV, crashed for unknown reasons. Fire officials and medics rushed to the scene to aid the crash victims. One individual was confirmed dead following the collision. Police did not reveal the names of the deceased individual.
