COLUMBIA, S.C. — A stranded motorist and a tow truck driver are recovering after being shot early Sunday morning in the Columbia area. Based on their initial findings, Richland County Sheriff's Department Investigators believe the actual shooting happened near Youngs Chapel Church Road near Jacob Road which is not far from the busy Greystone Boulevard route to I-126. Based on the preliminary findings of Richland County Sheriff's Department investigators, a driver had gotten stuck or had broken down in the area and a tow truck driver responded to tow his vehicle. At some point as the vehicle was being hooked up, one or more unknown suspects opened fire shooting both the stranded motorist and the tow truck driver in the lower body. One of the victims walked to the 300 block of Greystone Boulevard which is where deputies initially responded. Both were taken to the hospital for treatment, however, their wounds were not considered life-threatening, authorities said.
