The Suffolk County Police Department is once again looking to add tow operators to its ranks.

An Evidence Recovery Tow Operator transports vehicles and evidence, as needed by the Police Department. Vehicles may have been involved in crashes, contain or constitute evidence, may be seized pursuant to federal, state or local law, or may otherwise be towed for law enforcement purposes. Transport of decommissioned and disabled police department vehicles is also involved.

The position is full time with a starting salary is $41,525 with full medical, vision and dental benefits. Qualified applicants must be a high school graduate or possess a GED as well as have at least one year of experience in the operation of medium-weight flatbed trucks or tow trucks to transport accident vehicles; or one year of experience as a heavy equipment operator. Candidates must possess a Commercial Drivers License with air brake and tow truck endorsements.
