A tow operator was struck and killed Saturday, June 11, while loading a disabled van on the shoulder of eastbound Interstate 10 in New Orleans, La.

The operator has yet to be identified.

New Orleans police said the male operator was working to load the van at approximately 2:43 a.m. when a Chevrolet Silverado pickup crashed into the rear of the van, causing it to hit the rear of the tow truck. The operator died at the scene.

The male driver of the pickup suffered minor injuries, and is reported to be cooperating with police. It is yet to be determined if charges will be filed.

The New Orleans Police Department asks anyone with information about the crash to call 504-658-6205 or Crimestoppers at 504-822-1111.
