WESTMORELAND — A utility pole was damaged on Valley View Road when some low hanging wires were hit by a passing vehicle Thursday afternoon, according to law enforcement officials.

Sheriff’s deputies said Christopher Peck was driving a tow truck pulling a trailer loaded with an excavator on Valley View Road at about 2 p.m. when the truck and excavator hit the low hanging wires.

Deputies said Peck was able to get out of the vehicle without injury.

The road was closed temporarily to repair the utility pole and wires, authorities said.
