  1. It always bugged me to see a guy going down the road with a rollback with a perfectly good looking car on the back and the lights flashing away.  If you ask why, " I'm loaded ". Does a dump truck run lights with a load of stone ?!?   They you wonder why you get no respect when you do have the lights on.
Actually in my area dump trucks do run lights with a load of stone. It seems like everyone and their mother has flashing Amber lights here and it drives me crazy. Work trucks will drive 6 miles down the highway lights rolling and then are surprised when people almost hit them because they suddenly decide to stop where they want to work.

    Drives me insane

  2. Tonight at Baltimore's Inner Harbor, we saw three carriers driving with o/h emergency lights on, two were loaded with cars on the deck. What is MD's law regarding lighting? Allowed?

Yes they are allowed in MD.

I tow in Northern VA and in VA the law is if you are towing a vehicle with wheels on the ground you must use your beacon. In VA the law specifically states flatbeds don't need to use beacons while in motion.

The problem we have is it is poorly worded.

    C. Vehicles equipped with warning lights authorized in §§ 46.2-1020 through 46.2-1027shall display lighted warning lights as authorized in such sections at all times when responding to emergency calls, towing disabled vehicles, or constructing, repairing, and maintaining public highways or utilities on or along public highways, except that amber lights on vehicles designed with a ramp on wheels and a hydraulic lift with a capacity to haul or tow another vehicle, commonly referred to as "rollbacks," need not be lit while the vehicle is in motion unless it is actually towing a vehicle

So I've had some people tell me they think it means flatbeds have to use the beacon when towing a car on the deck but to me it is saying you should use them when towing a car on the stinger.

Louwo, I am working on doing that, but as stated it defeats the purpose on the laptop and I am on the move much of the time.

Thanks John aka mushspeed, hoping to replace the Macbook Pro. But, at worst I go back to a regular PC for awhile.

Any help is appreciated, hopefully I start getting invoices out soon. Towing has been very busy as of late. Anyone else busy?

Glad to hear you're staying busy. My company has been busy but my night shift has been dead dead dead.
