Traffic-related law enforcement deaths were up by 38% in 2021

38% more traffic-related law enforcement deaths... Talk about heartbreaking!

 

A recent article in the February 2022 edition of OFFICER MAGAZINE notes,

"Traffic-related law enforcement deaths were up by 38% in 2021, with 58 officers killed compared to 42 deaths in the previous year."

Many states are incorporating "Move Over" laws to help give officers more space while conducting traffic stops or reporting to incident scenes.

 

What can be done to make our roadways safer for road workers, police officers, emergency responders, and the traveling public?

 

Would adding more PPE to uniforms help create the added visibility that law enforcement officers need?
