TowNews
AAA Ohio Notification 12.16.19: On December 14th one of our roadside technicians was struck by a reported distracted motorist while assisting a member on I-70 near West Jefferson, Ohio. The tow truck and the AAA member’s vehicle sustained extensive damage. Thankfully everyone walked away from the incident with only minor injuries, but it serves as a stark reminder of the dangers of distracted driving and Ohio’s Slow Down, Move Over law. AAA’s network of emergency roadside service technicians put their lives at risk every day to assist motorists in need. It is a job they take pride in, and we commend them for their efforts. “Our AAA emergency roadside technicians work around the clock to provide assistance to stranded AAA members. In return they ask to be afforded a safe place to work in order to perform their job so that they may return to their families each day.” – Dave McMullen, President and CEO of AAA Ohio Auto Club. AAA urges motorists to do their part to help protect these roadside workers by remaining alert at all times while driving, and slowing down and moving over whenever they see a tow truck or other emergency vehicle on the side of the road. It’s not only the law, it will also help make the roadways safer for everyone. Resource: AAA Ohio FB Page.
GRUMPS The Towman
From the Damage its obvious he was operating in the median / left side shoulder. Those center median jobs always give me the creeps.. Very good to hear the Operator is ok. 1 Quote PROFESSIONAL TOWING & RECOVERY IS NOT JUST A JOB.. rreschran
This is the first time I've ever seen a red AAA tow truck. West of the Rockies they're generally white and sky blue or yellow and Navy blue. I know ... what's that hafta' do with this post? I'm glad the tower was ok. R. Quote Randall C. GRUMPS The Towman
Out in my neck of the woods, there are only a few actual AAA owned trucks The ones i have seen are either red and white or all white. There are a couple contracted providers here that really doll their trucks up with the AAA logos and such. I cant make out whats written on the body sides so maybe thats the case with this truck.
