Tough Tow On A Mixer.

Received a call from one of our customers stating that one of his fully loaded , 11 yard front disc charge mixer snapped the front axle completely off as it was going down a long, isolated road. He needed the truck to be picked up and towed back to his shop before the concrete hardened up. We found the truck at the bottom of a very narrow dead end road. As described, the front axle was broken right off and dug up 100 feet of pavement. We had enough room just to squeeze by it, but knew once we hooked it up there would be no where to turn around, we would have to back the truck up the entire length of the road. The truck was very unstable because the concrete was already setting up inside the drum, come to find out, the call was recieved 3 hours after the fact of this happening because the drivers cell phone did not work in that area. It took some time to hook it up because the load was very unstable. After the mixer was hooked, we backed the unit up all the way to the top of the road and brought the unit to a large gravel pit where the drum was removed because the concrete had already hardened. Then the chassis was towed back to the customer's yard.
