TowNews Posted March 27, 2019 Share Posted March 27, 2019 A Downsville tow truck operator is facing a first offense DWI after he allegedly responded to a wreck intoxicated. According to the arrest report from Louisiana State Police, Darrell Patton, age 58, responded to a single-vehicle wreck on Louisiana 151 north of Interstate 20. The investigating trooper was involved with traffic control when Patton arrived at the scene. Recovery of the wrecked vehicle took approximately 30 minutes. When Patton approached the trooper after loading the vehicle, the trooper reported smelling the odor of alcohol. According to the arrest report, Patton performed unsatisfactorily on field sobriety tests and was taken into custody. He was later transported to Ouachita Correctional Center and provided a breath sample of 0.067 percent. The legal limit is 0.08. The report notes two hours elapsed from the time the defendant arrived at the scene to the time the test was completed. The suspect was booked Tuesday night.
