If I was the owner of the truck, you are so fired, I do not even want you driving to the yard to turn in the sled. If I was the gate person at the salvage pool, you are not even setting foot on the property. If I am a law enforcement officer, I will utilize creative thinking to at the very least impound the accident waiting to happen. If I am the public at large, I will continue to wonder why operators are neck and neck, respect wise, with plumbers.

Of course the driver's actions are indefensible, even if someone loaded the truck for him and told him to drive it, you would hope he would refuse. I would love to hear the story of how we got to this point, but unfortunately doubt we ever will.
I bet the loader operator at copart/iaa sees this stuff daily.
