Young girl dies after crash involving tow truck, several cars in Dade County Saturday (GA)

The Georgia State Patrol says a 13-year-old has died after being severely injured in a crash on I-24 Saturday.

 

It happened on I-24 E near Exit 169 for Wildwood.

 

The driver of a tow truck hauling two cars noticed traffic slowing ahead, and tried to brake, according to the GSP.

The driver told officers the brakes failed, and he hit a van in front of him.

 

The truck pushed the van along, causing a collision involving three other cars.

 

GSP says two people were injured in the crash - the tow truck driver, and the 13-year-old inside the van, which was carrying 8 people from LaPlace, Louisiana.

 

Both were taken to nearby hospitals, where the girl succumbed to her injuries.

 

The GSP is still investigating this incident.
