Portlandheavytowing Posted November 29 Posted November 29 Hello. Im George. I’m here in Portland Oregon and found your forum online searching for Holmes 1701 information. I currently have a 05 western Star 4900ex with a miller dtu and a 01 Pete 379 with a trebron super slip on I run myself. As of recently I bought a 81 Pete 359 that was someone’s project before he passed. that’s what brings me here. The only towing related parts left on the Pete are a Holmes 1701 mast and a z30 zack lift with a short reach. im going to post the zack lift for sale and am on the fence about the mast from the homes since it has all the hydralics and the winch drums and all of it looks to be in great shape. That leads me here looking for information on this 1701. Does anyone convert these masts into side pullers? Has that been done ? and has anyone converted one of these 1701 masts into a winch box ? Or Does anyone have a 1701 boom, cylinders and mounting table for sale ? I know Trebron north uses the smaller holmes as a winch box part. But has anyone built a winch box with the 1701 ? Quote
EdsTowing Posted November 29 Posted November 29 Well the 1st sacrilege was somebody chopping up a 1701 but getting past that...it would be overly heavy & overkill in my opinion trying to make the mast in to a winch box. Finding a boom by itself would be right up there with finding Hen's teeth...they didn't fail "per say" so I don't think you are going to find NOS parts like that. It would probably be better to have someone like Trebron build a boom for it if you wanted to make it in to something? Quote
