Tow Truck Driver Killed in Brown County Crash After Hydroplaning

BLANKET, TX – A 43-year-old tow truck driver from Glen Rose died Sunday morning after his vehicle hydroplaned and overturned on U.S. Highway 67/377 near Blanket Creek.

This happened around 11:30 a.m., according to the Texas Department of Public Safety. The driver, identified as Lucas Bentley Randall, was traveling southbound in a 2012 Peterbilt 337 tow truck when his vehicle lost traction on the wet road. Randall overcorrected after skidding toward the median, causing the truck to veer off the west side of the road and overturn.

Randall was pronounced deceased at the scene by Justice of the Peace Bryan Thompson. DPS reported that Randall was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

Conditions at the time were cloudy, and the roads were wet.

The posted speed limit is 75 miles per hour.
