HVY D Posted November 30 Posted November 30 Is this very well attended? Is anyone here attending this TRAA Event? What can I expect? Since I did not make it to Baltimore this year, I could possibly make it down to DC. Quote

Since I did not make it to Baltimore this year, I could possibly make it down to DC. I have been attending since these were relaunched a few years back. Each year the attendance grows, last year we had about 55-60 attendees from all across the country. The goal is to get at least one attendee from each state, although we have not hit that goal yet. Now, to be fair I may be a little biased since I am the TRAA Legislative Advocacy Network and Legislative Committee Chairman, their Lobbyist Member and also the Legislative Director of my home state, Pennsylvania's towing association. So I am very involved in this stuff almost daily. This event is designed to put you, as the attendee, front and center with your Members of Congress, or their staff (which is usually more effective than meeting the Member themselves as the staffers ae the one that get all the work done and guide the Member of Congress). TRAA's lobbyist, Tremont Strategies Group, does all the work arranging the meetings with the Members of Congress, and for first time attendees you are paired with a group that is lead by someone like myself that has been here many times and knows our way around the Capitol and how to be effective with the limited time available for each meeting. You don't have to be politically savvy or even a great speaker, just passionate about your industry and willing to share stories and connect with the Member or their staff. In fact, regular folks probably help more than those of us that are semi-professional lobbyists or regular visitors to the Capitol since the staff hears from us all the time. They crave connections with real folks, from their districts, that tell it like it is. The TRAA professional lobbyist team is very well connected on both sides of the aisle, so they can get us access that is better than anyone can get solo. Plus, they are there in force to provide guidance and support. It is an expensive trip but money well spent, not only for the advocacy it provides for the industry, but also for the connections you make with other attendees. So much more intimate than any tow show will ever be! There are also visits to the headquarters hotel form various key Members of Congress, US DOT and more, plus the food and hospitality is always first class. If you are serious about improving the state of the industry, or even just curious to see what really happens in DC, come on down. It will be a great time. 1 Quote
