WILKES-BARRE — A tow truck driver accused of exposing himself to two women after he arrived to tend to their disabled vehicle was convicted of indecent exposure and other offenses during a jury trial this week.

Scott Teixeira, 32, of Wilkes-Barre, was convicted of one count each of indecent exposure, open lewdness and disorderly conduct. Following a two-day trial the jury also acquitted Teixeira on two counts of harassment, while additional charges were dropped by agreement between the parties.

According to prosecutors, Teixeira, who was working for Falzone’s Towing in Wilkes-Barre, responded when a woman called AAA’s roadside assistance service because her car broke down near Pierce Street and North Gates Avenue in Kingston in June 2016.

After arriving in a service truck, Teixeira began grabbing his genitals over his pants and saying he was feeling hot with his sweatshirt on, but didn’t want to “strip down” in front of them, the woman and her friend told police.

Teixeira then walked back to his service truck and returned with his genitals fully exposed and protruding through the fly of his pants, prosecutors said.

The women reported being afraid and “very concerned” as Teixeira proceeded to work on the car while fully exposed, prosecutors said. The encounter ended with Teixeira radioing for a tow truck and telling one of the women that “a pretty girl like you should have a boyfriend,” prosecutors said.

After the jury rendered its verdict, Luzerne County Judge David W. Lupas set sentencing for Feb. 27 but denied a prosecution motion to revoke Teixeira’s bail.

Teixeira previously pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct and harassment after being accused of rubbing his genitals and exposing his bare chest to a convenience store clerk in April 2012.
