So we were asked to help the Veterans Association & VFW by transporting a 1967 Bell Helicopter to a Veterans appreciation event at a park. The unit was actively used in Vietnam from 67-74 as a Gun Ship...

 

 

 

It was bigger then it looks and had a wicked overhang...

 

 

My grandson Vincent is a "War Buff" and had a great time!

 

 

Just something a little out of the ordinary!

That's a real bit of history …. hell of an overhang, no sharp cornering with that.

 

One for the picture  portfolio,  I have a picture some where      us transporting part of  a ww2  spitfire ….I will try and find it

Just for fun ... may I ask how you handled the over-hang issue ... with a permit and pilot car or did law enforcement assist with a rearward escort?   Thanks>   R.

We transported it through our local Halloween Parade yesterday...

 

 

My son & I have gotten pretty "fluent" with moving this...LoL We always have a truck behind to stop traffic for the "swings" and an escort up front. We have only moved it locally without permits. I can't permit on a RT Tag so we don't take it any distance. It's only slightly over height...the trailer was custom made to let it ride as low as possible.

I bet the whole outfit was a real crowd pleaser on the parade ...   We love doing stuff to support the community.
