Driver dead after slamming into tow truck on Beltway 8 (TX)

One person was killed Saturday after driving their car into the back of a tow truck that was responding to a one-car accident on Beltway 8.

Houston Police said the tow truck was blocking traffic near the exit for John F. Kennedy Boulevard when it was hit at full speed by the driver of a white Honda Accord around 3 a.m. The driver, who police said should have yielded and did not break, died from the injuries. No one else was injured.

Police said the tow truck driver was properly blocking traffic. It's unclear if alcohol was involved.

Those involved in the initial accident - which is also still under investigation - were hospitalized with minor injuries, police said.
