TowNews
A 17-year-old girl killed in a fiery head-on collision with a tow truck near Brentwood on Monday afternoon has been identified as Emily Alarcon Reyes of Palo Alto, according to the Contra Costa County coroner's office. She was initially identified by the California Highway Patrol as a resident of Petaluma. Alarcon Reyes was riding in a 2016 Jeep Compass driven by a 20-year-old San Francisco man heading north on Vasco Road near Walnut Boulevard around 2:20 p.m. He crossed into the southbound lane and struck a tow truck, catapulting the Jeep into a nearby field where it caught fire. Alarcon Reyes was transported to a hospital in Walnut Creek by helicopter, but was pronounced dead at 3:37 p.m. Another passenger, 21, was flown to a different hospital with major injuries but is expected to survive, according to the CHP. The tow truck was disabled by the collision and blocked the entire roadway, officers said. The driver reported a minor complaint of pain. Drugs and alcohol do not appear to have been factors in the crash. RESOURCE LINK
