TowNews
A man pointed a gun at a Caltrans worker helping him with a flat tire early Wednesday and fired several rounds into the air after an argument in the Caldecott Tunnel in Oakland, authorities said. The man pulled over about 2:15 a.m. to the center median of Highway 24, just west of the tunnel, when one of his vehicle’s tires went flat, according to the California Highway Patrol. A Caltrans tow truck driver reportedly arrived to help the man with his car. The two began to argue as the worker attempted to get the driver to bring his vehicle to the right shoulder of the tunnel, CHP said. During the argument, the driver reportedly drew a handgun and pointed it at the Caltrans worker before firing several rounds into the air. A friend of the driver then arrived and the pair fled the scene, CHP said. All westbound lanes of Highway 24 were shut down while CHP investigated the incident. Officers arrested the driver at his house a short time after the shooting. No one was injured in the incident. RESOURCE LINK
