Andy P
it's getting near my "retirement job" and i am starting to look into equipment. At first i was confident that i wanted to purchase a wrecker but realize i may be better off with a truck more suited to roadside service but capable off towing as well. Reasons being I will have 1-2 tows a day through my brother and friends who own thier own shops so roadside service is also a part of my business plan. Recovery work, although not a big part of my plan, would still be possible as far as simple winch outs via front mounted and bed mounted winches when the snow flies. I think I would be just fine with an underlift mounted on a 350 or 450 series chassis and make my own toolboxes. Any thoughts and suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I am a mechanic so wrenching or rebuilding is no big deal. Thanks Andy
goodmichael
Buy a wrecker. I personally like the Vulcan 882. Mounted on an F450 chassis with a 6.7. Edited September 16, 2022 by goodmichael
Stubborn66
Sounds like you would be better off with a 4wd wrecker, based on the versatility you want.
