Motorist collides with CHP cruiser and tow truck on 91 Freeway in Corona

Two people were injured after a car collided into a California Highway Patrol officer’s cruiser on the the 91 Freeway in Corona on Friday.

Around 11:40 p.m., the officer had pulled their vehicle over on the freeway, east of Lincoln Avenue, to assist a tow truck, according to the CHP Sgt. Scott Beauchene. While assisting, the driver of a Mazda sedan collided into the officer’s cruiser and came to  a stop after crashing into the back of the tow truck.

The driver of the sedan had serious injuries and was taken to a hospital.

The CHP officer had minor injuries and was treated at the scene, and the driver of the tow truck was not injured.

Could this have been a tow truck driver killed or injured had not the officer stopped to assist.
