Touch a Truck at the Madison Area YMCA is Saturday!

Saturday, July 30th from 10 am - 2 pm

After a four-year hiatus, Madison’s biennial summer family event, Touch-A-Truck, is back and ready to roll! Tickets are on sale NOW for the Saturday, July 30th event held from 10 am to 2 pm on the grounds of the Madison Area YMCA. Sponsored by the Friends of the Madison Public Library, in cooperation with the Madison Rotary and the Madison Area YMCA, the event will be held rain or shine.

Children will be in ‘overdrive’ when they see the line-up of trucks they can climb on, jump in the driver seat, shift gears and honk horns. Trucks include a fire truck, police SUV emergency vehicle, motorcycle, ambulance, backhoe, bucket truck, mail truck, Jaeger’s flatbed with dump truck, Honor’s crane, DeFalco’s tow truck, F.M. Kirby school bus and Passaic Valley motor coach before a final cool down in PipeWork’s air-conditioning truck. Morris County's 'Navigation Hope' will visit for the first time. Families can purchase lunch at food trucks and vendors including Taxi Cab Burger, Empanada Lady, Romanelli's, Kona Ice and Pius Ice Cream Truck.

Touch-a-Truck will entertain families with additional free activities, including a community art activity by CRAFTED, Madison NJ Rocks, balloon artists, and a temporary tattoo station. Tickets are available at any circulation desk at the library or on the Friends’ website at www.friendsmadisonnjlibrary.org. Admission for toddlers and children up to age 12 will be $8 for advance purchase and $10 on the day of the event. The cost for teens and adults is $5. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

This fundraiser will benefit various library offerings, particularly programs for children and teens, and expand the book, media, and digital collections. Mommy & Me Yoga, Rhyme Time, and the Children’s Summer Reading Program are favorite library-sponsored events funded by the Friends, as are the very popular museum passes and grab-and-go craft kits.
