From Geri Roskopf's Blog:

The Wisconsin Towing Association recently held their annual tow show and celebrated 55 years as an association. For me and my family, that weekend was always considered our vacation. If you have a small towing company, I’m sure you know what it’s like to take time off and away from the business. Thankfully, for our family to attend the tow show, our employees have stepped up for coverage, dispatching and extra hours being on call.

My husband and I have attended many conventions and tow shows around the country and each is unique in what they offer; seminars, demonstrations, tow truck beauty contest, meet and greet, etc. Most will also conduct their state towing association’s annual member and board meetings.

While there are many things to consider when deciding whether or not to attend a tow show — cost, coverage, time, etc. — I think the benefits outweigh the downsides. Networking, checking out new equipment, attending educational seminars, talking to vendors about insurance, financing, towing software or researching motor club opportunities are just some of the benefits.

For me, when attending any tow show I can talk to other tow ladies and towers who understand the industry. We all face many of the same challenges, and while we can be competitors, we also should be united as colleagues.

Tow show or no tow show? If you have the opportunity to attend a tow show I would strongly suggest you make the effort to do it. You, your business and the industry will benefit.
