EdsTowing
Just got home from a couple days at Jerr-Dan going through their Rotator Training program. It was a good experience and I "Honed" my current knowledge as well as picked up a few new things for my future arsenal! They do a great job on teaching how to make your specific equipment work to it's abilities and maintain it properly. I can truthfully say the Jerr-Dan unit is a bad ass truck that instills confidence and won't disappoint.
Towman92266
Hi Ed, Does Jerr-Dan offer this to everybody or just select customer? We unfortunately sold our JD Rotator after we lost it's operator and I really miss both. I would love to attend a JD Rotator class. TIA and Have a Great Day! -Chuck
EdsTowing
I wouldn't say it's "just select customers" but it is limited. Unlike other promoted "similar" classes, it's much smaller in size so everyone gets hands on attention. There's nearly as many staff members as customers. It's all about engineering, maintenance and how to make THIS unit work to the best of it's abilities through a proper life span. There is literally no marketing & sales information promoted. Anything I wanted to know about subjects in that segment I had to ask myself. It's a great opportunity to talk with some brilliant engineers that can explain the "hows & whys" something does what it does or exactly why they want the unit utilized in a certain way. And not to be bias due to our friendship for over three decades but I would put Richard Guttman, the lead product specialist, on a very short list of the greatest operators in our industry. It's not a "Shock & Awe" class filled with "look what I can do" examples. It's based on the safe execution of a task from the planning, attachment to the casualty, all rigging and set up of their machine to accomplish the job safely within all of the safe work loads & lifting charts. I would contact Richard or your dealer to inquire about the class, it would be worth your effort.
EdsTowing
Oh and I wanted to mention that the unit is one incredible machine. We pulled 70k off the side using just the drag winch and the truck never made a sound or moved a bit! Using the boom winches, that unit will pull 120,000lbs off the side, safely, and not come off it's platform. Nobody...and I mean nobody else's equipment is going to do that.
Towman92266
Thanks for the reply...Like I said, I loved our JD Rotator and wish we still had it. 16 minutes ago, EdsTowing said: I wouldn't say it's "just select customers" but it is limited.
