Tow Force Posted December 10, 2021 Posted December 10, 2021 What are the thought's on companies conducting PPI's on Semi Tractor Trailers without a Heavy Duty Tow Truck to complete the action? Scenario: Light Duty Tow Truck Shows up on a property. Signage proper improper is not the focus of this topic though most often there is not legal signage. Light Duty Tow truck harasses Truck Driver parked on Private Property. Most often the driver is parked illegally on the property and signage may have contributed. However, truck drivers are often aware of what they have done. They simply assume it is a huge empty parking lot and they will be gone by morning. Back to the subject, if a PPI Company cannot complete the impound should they be able to collect from the violator. Before you say they could call a company for a Heavy to remove the Tractor Trailer. None of the companies in the area will get involved with this PPI company. The PPI company does not have a lot large enough to impound this tractor trailer. Has your company gotten involved in any of these situations. Does it work out or is it best to avoid them if your company does not conduct PPI's? Keep in mind if there is a written agreement with the property owner it is not with your company. In nearly half of these situations there is not a written agreement or letter of hold harmless with the property owner. In addition that Letter of Hold Harmless would need to be with the tow company removing the vehicle. Quote
goodmichael Posted June 28, 2022 Posted June 28, 2022 If you do not have the equipment, you are just asking for a lawsuit in shaking down a driver. Quote
