rreschran
Hi All ... Have you ever worked a horse or large animal recovery or extrication? I'm looking for input on what part you played in the recovery and if you charged for your work? Who paid for the extraction? Was the animals owner present? Was there a veterinarian on-scene? How long did it take? Would you do it again? Any input is greatly appreciated. Thanks. R. Quote Randall C. Resch

I don't know if you would consider this a "recovery" so much as a.... transport. 9 hours ago, rreschran said: I'm looking for input on what part you played in the recovery and if you charged for your work? There was a tractor trailer rollover several days earlier that killed a few of the animals, and they quickly corralled most of the others. But this fella was loose running around town for about 3 days. It ended up charging an officer who shot and killed it. Animal control said it was too large to get into their trailer to transport and they called us off rotation. 9 hours ago, rreschran said: Who paid for the extraction? I don't know if we ever actually for paid for it, I would assume the insurance for the trailer trailer that was initially involved since it was its "cargo"? 9 hours ago, rreschran said: Was the animals owner present? No, but they had several good samaritans and such that had been trying to rope it for days. 9 hours ago, rreschran said: Was there a veterinarian on-scene? I don't think that was necessary. 9 hours ago, rreschran said: Would you do it again? Absolutely. --- On a more related note though, we did recently train with the fire department for such a scenario. rreschran
Thanks for your Animosus for your comments. Not the animal recovery I had in mind, but an animal removal none the less. I appreciate your comments and pics. Specifically, I seek info from towers who have lifted live animals from ditches, well-holes or other like type situation ... those not dead and with veterinarian assistance. Thank you for being a BIG part of large animal training in your rural Wyoming area. I'm sure the fire department appreciate's it too. R. Quote Randall C.
