A Halifax tow truck driver was offering roadside assistance on Tuesday when he was struck and killed during a domino crash in Berks County, Pennsylvania State Police said.

The 29-year-old was “actively engaged” in a call on Interstate 78 near mile marker 14.7 in Bethel Township when the crash took place near around 6:17 p.m., according to a state police report.

The first of the four vehicles involved was traveling west when it veered right, rear-ended a commercial vehicle, the Halifax man’s truck and a second heavy-duty tow truck, authorities said.

The vehicle that caused the chain reaction traveled another two-tenths of a mile before coming to a rest.

Six people were involved, with the youngest being a 9-year-old boy, authorities said.

State police said all four of the occupants of the vehicle that caused the crash were taken to Reading Hospital with moderate to severe injuries.

The Halifax tow truck driver was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity is being withheld while next of kin is notified.

The commercial vehicle’s driver was uninjured.

My heart is with this family, the tragedy devastation and loss are not unknown to me, if I can in anyway big or small be of service, help or resource to them, please do not hesitate reaching out to me.

I pray that the lord lay his hand on your shoulders providing the strength and mental clarity necessary to navigate these hard times and he ease the burden on your heart.

10 months ago today you were needlessly taken from us! We have been missing you for ten long months.....the same amount of time that you were only able to be a part of Riley’s life. We have cried, we have laughed, we have asked “why” and we have advocated! We are trying to learn how to live life without you - same days are harder than others, but we know you are there! We WILL make you proud! Forever missed and loved Tyler Laudenslager

Two years ago, July 21, 2020, Tyler Laudenslager, a father, a husband, a son, a brother, a friend, a co-worker, a tow truck operator, a volunteer firefighter was struck and killed by a motorist driving impaired, driving reckless, killing a hero, killing a man who gave to others, who did the right thing, who loved his family.

As you go about your day, please keep Riley, Holly, Heather, Deb and all their family and friends in your prayers, don't be a "D" driver and Move Over and Slow Down for all emergency responders, roadway workers and vehicles on the side of the roadway or at incident scenes.

Tomorrow, Wednesday August 24th at 1:30pm, the criminal who struck & killer Tyler Laudenslager is scheduled to be sentenced.

I am asking all of my friends and connections to like this image, share this image, download and share this image or a similar image in support of Tyler's family. Deb, Heather, Holly and Riley should not have to go through this, no family should but we can ALL show support for this amazing family.

Tyler was struck and killed July 21, 2020. Tyler was much more than a tow truck operator and volunteer firefighter, he was a son, a brother, a husband, a father, a friend.
Please show your support!
