Recommended Posts

VERNON, CT — A man is accused of attacking a tow truck with a machete during an incident in Vernon, police said.

A report on the June 16 incident was made available Thursday.

The altercation at 631 Talcottville Road — the Countrywood apartment complex — took place at 2:17 a.m., a report indicates. Police were told by a tow truck driver that he was attacked by a man with a machete.

The man, identified as 55-year-old Jacob Addy, who lives at the complex, is accused of using a machete to cut the straps used to attach his vehicle to the tow truck, according to a report. A report does not mention why the vehicle was on the tow truck.

Addy was charged with carrying a dangerous weapon, second-degree threatening, third-degree criminal mischief and second-degree breach of peace. He posted a $10,000 bond and is due in court on Aug. 4, records show.

When I was 19-years-old, I'd just attached a Chevy pickup to the sling of my Holmes 500 Ford wrecker, when ... out of nowhere, an old, long-haired, naked hippie, ran screaming through the Jack n the Box parking lot with a raised butcher knife. (Can I say that because I don't want to offend anyone because Old Hippies Matter). He chased me around the tow truck, cut the sling pads, then ran back into the alleyway from whence he came. I remember the beach areas as always full of freaks where every night was an adventure. Because I had the truck safety chained, the pads dropped but the pickup stayed lifted. I called the police when I got back to the yard, but they offered me no solace. Other than the guy screamin' like a banchee, he scared the bijeenkie's out of me. No suspect, no charges.     R.
