I love the two car deals unless both are uninsured it guarantees payment 99% time. I have the milwaukee blowers on my trucks also. I love them I hardly ever touch a broom anymore. Nice job. Ed have you gotten your sidepull yet? Let me know what you think after using it a little while.

  2. Got a call the other day for a "commercial dump truck" fire so we loaded for something big...I got a pic sent to me but it was hard to tell what it was...

Turned up it was just an F550. I already had the big truck out waiting so we just rolled...

Fireman asked me to hold up, he wanted to give it one more squirt before I hooked up...

It wasn't a "real impressive" hook up since I wasn't getting a bath under it and we were a mile or so from the shop...

    20240419_132652.thumb.jpg.24c2378f5211b517f18291e8bdc4e291.jpg

Once back to the shop, we unloaded the two pallets of pavers in the back so the customer could get them to their job. Figured it's easier to just take them out now before I back it in the fence...

    20240419_133840.thumb.jpg.b504b8dde5ce47e3a2ec217b1f6a5cfa.jpg

Had to put the machine on the bed and then grab the second pallet in the dump body...the pallet was a real POS and was falling apart trying to slide it to the edge... Overall, we had an hour in the job but hopefully it has insurance so we can get paid...

  3. Got a call for a TriAxle dump that broke the rear suspension. It was loaded heavy and they were afraid that the front drive axle would roll under the truck. I informed them that they had to unload it...I knew I could lift it but nobody was going down the road with it backwards...

    20240417_165040.thumb.jpg.ba2edbb229a4e2e2471f4c55013eea9a.jpg

Pretty simple rear pick at the frame rails w/ tall forks... The driver unloaded it in the back of this lot where they can go back to get it with a skid steer & dump tomorrow.

Lot's of extras....polished air tanks & battery cover...all "inboard" catalyst for a clean frame...Navigation...Winch brake, Electronic locking rear... It should make for a real nice unit.

No telling how many gallons of water is on it. I bet it did feel funny being a single axel being that heavy. Nice job!

Yea they offered to unload the water but he said it was little bit of a "pita" so I didn't worry about it. I thought about rear towing it but then thought better to leave that experience for when I didn't have a choice... 😉

  7. Had a tractor tow the other day. Picked it up in a little truck stop north of us...

Was going to be a 35 mile tow on primarily back roads so I didn't worry about the air shields. Mad at myself because I started across the lot and saw them shift around in my mirrors...got back out & checked and the hardware was all rotted that attached them. They would of been gone on an interstate...

It held together all the way back so that's all I cared about. The only "silver lining" is it has a 454 Big Block Chevy in it that I'm sure someone will buy. We will get it tore up next week.

  9. If you're grabbing an axle on something that has a deep set back like this, remember the swing when you go around turns...it's exaggerated out the opposite side that you are turning. I don't care to tow them but do when I have to. Typically, there isn't a lot of strong access points or frame access. The cooler packs can sit low in the front & generators. And you have to watch the rear overhang as well since there are a number of things back there that don't react well with road rash....

  10. Got a call for a 26'er stuck in the mud....all the "typical" Uhaul methods attempted to get it out but eventually they call...

  11. When I first started in this business, by boss always had a lot of stuff going on so we were never really slow even though we are in a resort area where the population and intelligent level fluctuates through out the year... So when I started my company, I always had the same goals. Now we have complete auto & truck repair, computer programing, do our own keys & key fobs, light through heavy towing & recovery, road service, transport work, auto & commercial body shop, commercial dustless sand blasting, we build commercial trucks, the property damage clean ups, welding & fabricating...pretty much every aspect of the automotive industry. So typically if one division is slow, the shift gets put to the areas that are busy. Right now our truck refurbish stuff is busy as hell and we always have a few units in one form of production or another. I always said that versatility is the key...especially in a rural area that can't rely on a huge population to carry them such as in a metropolitan area. At the end of the week, I don't care where the money comes from...as long as it comes!

Here are a few "non wrecker" jobs we have done in the last 2 weeks...

  12. Our towing has been kind of slow but other aspects of our company are doing well and "carrying" the load. Here's a few recent jobs...

Brand new 24' Pete towed in for an oil leak...

    20240325_113257.thumb.jpg.cdea6aeeddb31f04dce026f759b63c62.jpg

Fortunately it was minor so we were able to clean everything up after a replaced oil fill cap.

    20240313_190659.thumb.jpg.bf9800c44db3e38babbf8887ffbb79e8.jpg

Theft recovery on a 26' Uhaul that was 3 weeks late coming back. Turned up that a manager saw the truck in a Hotel parking lot and pulled the fuel pump relay....something they neglected to tell us. I got on scene and just started hooking so I could scoot out of there but the renter came out. We had a "chat" and set the ground rules...and then I took the truck.

    20240313_193205.thumb.jpg.be63f0633c3b033e7fe5b447bce613de.jpg

Found out the issue the next morning so a simple repair and it was back to Uhaul.

This was a little different...one of our large gated communities contacted us to clean up a oil mess made from a delivery truck that dumped oil in their roadway...

  13. Friend of mine is building a new car wrecker and was unhappy with the factory paint on the unit. They decided to trailer it to us so we could refinish it...

It wasn't terrible but dry in spots and they missed a few areas...but unfortunately with what these trucks cost, you expect them to be A1 Perfect!

    20240324_144359.thumb.jpg.d6e1e05afc0019eeacf5f7effbefa17d.jpg

We removed the winches, rope and assorted components prior to painting...

    20240324_144427.thumb.jpg.0a9abea429d19dfb0b278f5c8af6ac5f.jpg

The manufacturer agreed to pay for the repair so we shot it this week...

First we shot the rear panels, the wheel lift tube & fly boom with a "tintable" Raptor Liner. Then we did a complete over coat with his color in base coat/clear coat...

    20240327_120142.thumb.jpg.3639a382c81e561a964178ba7649b23d.jpg

    20240327_120202.thumb.jpg.35689bcd10823635845d56d0838cc1dd.jpg

This way, for one the color would not alter due to the different base finishes and now when it gets a scratch or chip, it will still be silver under the paint. My last wrecker they covered in a black bed liner material and if it got a scratch, it was black under the white & stood out...

    20240328_173648.thumb.jpg.a1e7ec74803b6aecb27483e8e8089630.jpg

All back together and ready to go back for the body install at the dealer...
