Had a call for a Subaru stuck on a rock at the end of a 90 degree corner, and a very tight driveway.
first I brought out our F550 (that is our go to recovery truck) but I could barley make the 90 degree curve in that truck. Being the only on call driver that day and with other calls pending I waited till next day to do the job and brought out our smaller F450.
That also gave me time to come up with some ideas on having a successful recovery.
Decided I would attempt to sling the front end due to the fact I couldn’t get my boom in the right spot to lift the drivers front.
I used blocking to help spread the load evenly arose the front end and raised the car off the rocks. Placed the car in N with the parking break set then proceeded to turn my truck tires hard left to bring the front of the casualty away from the rock. After I turned all I could I ran my passenger cable to a tree and snatch block than to the passenger rear tire to clear the rock the rest of the way.
After getting my rigging cleaned up i released the parking break on the casualty and simply backed the car to level ground.
