  1. I think a lot of trucking companies are hurting for cash. My 35 ton Vulcan has 46,000 pound kenworth 8 bag suspension ( I wouldn't buy that suspension again but Miller had built it that way and I bought it many moons ago at the Baltimore tow show) anyway when I tow like an 80,000 pound fire ladder truck with a 24,000 pound front end my air suspension gauges bury and start coming up the other side. Years ago I put timbren rubber blocks in the suspension and that helped it a lot from squatting so bad. I only have a 14,000 pound front axle so I hung 2,000 pounds of steel plate below the front bumper and that also helped with my steering ( I only have a 305" wheelbase)
  2. Most guys in our area have like a $500 minimum bid price. If you have a 2 grand tow and storage fee on a piece of crap, nobody would bid on it. I think most of the guys just try to get a few more bucks out of a car instead of taking it to the scrap yard. I can't answer your 2nd question as I am not a salvor.
  3. Thought you were die hard Ford! Nice ride. My grandfather owned a Chrysler Dodge dealership from 1940-1980. Got pictures of Cudas and Roadrunners on the lot. Had a terrible time selling the Hemi's, because of the high insurance.
  4. Definitely a nice pic. I don't know how guys have enough room with 2 toolboxes on a rollback. I have (4) 48" toolboxes on my rollbacks and they get full with shelves for all the different tie downs and chains and equipment for crashes.
  5. Why can't they put a lever on the differential to disengage the driveline instead of having to remove it as often as you gotta tow this junk
  6. Tell you what rides 10 times better then air ride on those. It is called liquid spring. 10 grand for the kit. Our town ambulance F-450 came with it installed at the ambulance box manufacturer and they love it. They had different air ride systems over the years and they rode harsh. We retrofitted their other ambulances with it because they loved it so much. 40 hour job to install, steering angle sensor for making a turn it jacks the one side up etc. has a dump feature. You remove the leaf springs and put a 4 link system on rear axle with big hydraulic shocks. It is not mickey mouse at all, very well made and engineered system. They tow a heavy trailer with it and it adjusts up for the heavy trailer.
  7. The cost of these trucks make you have another rate increase. Everyone's labor costs went up, then fuel went up and the prices of these trucks went up. We were always hourly on medium and heavy and hookup and mileage fees on light duty. What do you do Ed on light duty? Hourly or hookup and mileage?
  8. What is all that white crap in the background? We had an easy winter in southeast PA. We had 2" of snow and that was it.
  9. I know it can be good for business, but I hate snow now that I am 53. I used to be able to deal with it, now I wouldn't care if i never seen a flake again.
  10. Once you drive that Dodge you just might sell all of your Fords. HAha
  11. They want you to spend the money on apportioned tags. I run RT tags, I try to only go out of state at night or on the weekends when the scales are closed.
  12. I really try to take care of my wire rope and my 3/4" on my heavy is the factory installed that is on it 20 years now.  No, I don't do crashes and winchouts every day but they got used plenty in 20 years. Now my rollbacks with 3/8" that is a different story.

  13. Good job coming up with a solution. No way you want to rear tow that.
  14. Just had a 2022 Buick Encore up on a lift and the electric emergency brake is on the front wheels! Never seen an emergency brake on the front wheels before.
  15. I have no idea how U haul makes any money with all the idiots that ruin their trucks
  16. Our local U haul just called us to install converters on 7 trucks got stolen this weekend
  17. I had a Mack single axle plow truck the other day and the bed was heaping full of cinders. I didn't trust putting all that on the steer axle so i front towed it.
  18. I usually tell the car carriers to call someone else. I put them in the tour bus/ pusher motorhome group. I tell all of them $1,500 minimum tow and that gets rid of most of them
  19. You need to be a salvor in PA to get rid of cars with no title. To become a salvor you need to fill out an inch thick of paperwork that I said screw that. When a car is left sit for more than 24 hours you can call the state police and they come fill out the paperwork and call a salvor to tow it away for you, but you get no money in that scenario.
