  1. I agree. Honestly when I seen it was a triple axle and no deadman insight I didn't think I had a fighting chance.
  2. Thats a slick idea. Probably helps with traction on concrete as well.
  3. Was told they had a road tractor stuck. Ended up a little more than I bargained for. I got it out none the less but definitely was outmatched. Thankful for wrecker school and learning a few tricks along the way. Tough to beat experience.
  4. I am going to order a new carrier. I have a 10 series and 2 12 series. I think that if we add a 16 series it will make us a little more versatile. Trying to decide the bed length. We don't really run into and length problems. Was debating 22 foot ot 24 foot. I think that would allow us to haul trucks with plows and not have to separate them. Other then that I can think of any reason for a longer bed than 24 foot. What are you guys finding the most versatile length? Thanks for your opinion.

  6. We are sure trying. Still learning what forks to get. Ordered the medium set from Irish Iron and have the standard miller set along with the spring shackles, the miller square riser receiver, u bolt cups and a 4.5 low set that miller use for carrier feet lynch called them carrier forks. I was debating buying the chain forks but thought that the miller riser forks would do the same thing. This is relatively new to me. I was spoiled and ran heavies that had everything you could get previously to me.
  7. Not to sure about L arm storage on them.
  8. Look like they are fly by wire and plastic controls on the back. An autoloader that could handle 7k lift would be very cool.
  9. Thats what they should have taken to the show. Side puller is nice but I couldn't get by with that little of storage on my.
  10. The tunnel boxes is what looks goofy. I think if it had your typical square tunnel box with one door would have been nice. And that may be an option on it. They may have just sent it to the show with what boxes thay had. I do like how the boom doesn't go into the tunnel box like on my 2465. You lose a little space.
  11. I'm not overly impressed by that. Its sorta goofy looking.
  12. I really wanted see what Jerrdan was going to bring to the table with the MPL60 but with little to no information and no tentative dates I had to got with another 2465.
  13. I wonder if the superduty forks will fit the ram 4500s and 5500s front axles. I think the Rams use splicer front end and ford uses a dana. I am not sure the diameter sizes. I picked up a 5500 ram yesterday with my new International MV and century 2465. I don't have a much variety in the form of forks yet so I went ahead and just used vulcan scoops that came with it. I know that's the max I would want to pick up with them. However the truck picked it up and handled it like a fwd car. I was extremely impressed. Nothing like I was use to towing them with my past Ram 5500s.
  14. We went with the Mv. We got ours about 3 weeks ago. My MV wrecker will be here Thursday. We really like the one we have thus far.
  15. Thank you. I know I will be limited with it. I never really had a lot of experience with medium size trucks. Always had light duty wreckers and carriers and then went straight to 20 ton and 35 ton heavy wreckers. On them we had 7 set's of forks on the 20 ton and 10 on the 35 ton. I know on them I would typically use the u bolt cups or standard forks. On the heavy trash trucks I picked them up by the frame behind the bumper or chained the axel. I haven't ran a heavy in 7 years or so when I sold my 30 ton. It's funny how you lose track of things when time slips by. I'm sure there will be a learning curve getting back into towing larger trucks. Especially with a smaller truck than I was use to with less reach.
  16. I am looking to buy some more forks for my new 12 ton. I have a 2465 on a MV ext cab chassis. Trying to be more versatile with this new truck. What should I buy? I know it will be limited but I only have 2 sets now the standard 2 inch one that comes on every medium duty and slightly wider. I was thinking spring forks and u bolt cups for sure. I have the risers already from my current 2465. Will a 15 foot chain be long enough to chain up a tandem. Its been awhile not sure if my old one was 15 or 20 feet. Thank Mike
  17. We are getting ready to order 2 new trucks. 1 a carrier and 1 a century 2465. Having a tough time deciding the between the older m2 and the newer mv. Drivetrain is the same from what I can tell. Leaning MV since its a newer truck and I like the interior better. Both are derated and less power then the ram 5500s they are replacing however they have 4.88 gears and probably a better transsmision than the aisin in the rams. My rams all have the 4.44 rears. I am hoping the m2 and mv won't be completely gutless like vs our rams. Any of you all made the switch or ran both the m2 and mv? I am looking for more imput. I am not brand loyal by any means. Thanks Looking forward to the larger chassis for the 2465 more than anything. Trying to decide how to set up the larger tunnel box.
  18. I have both Miller and Jerrdan rollbacks. They are fairly late model my oldest is a 15. I have a 2465 bed. I don't believe I have enough reach to pick it like Ed. I agree its a heavier spot to pick it from. Are those 4x4 carriers you are towing from the rear? I would think I would have to pull a front shaft on our rams since there are no lockouts. I will need different forks for sure.
  19. I am curious if you can pick them up from the feet with 4 inch forks. I have been towing them from the front and pulling the driveshaft typically. I have heard that the ram 5500 and F550s can just be picked from the rear and you don't need to pull a driveshaft in the front. Looking for some sound advice. Maybe how you guys are picking them. Thanks
