  1. Sending prayers, condolence's and virtual hugs on a fast track south to Frank's immediate family members. We are truely sorry for your loss and will be thinking of you and of all who knew and loved Frank in the days ahead as you say your final goodbyes.

As reported in the article seen above:

“These deaths are 100 percent preventable. They should not be happening,” said Hydrick.

I work for a towing company and just recently broke down myself on the PA Turnpike and I can honestly say that while waiting there on the turnpike, broken down, I saw maybe two tractor trailers who actually slowed down and moved over. But at least 10 others flew past me so fast that the car shook.  I couldn't stop looking in my rearview mirror even though I was bound by anxiety. And because I am fully aware of these tragedies, I did not get in the truck until the driver finshed loading my car and was ready to get in the truck. He was out there to help me so I had to watch his back. What makes another driver not want to slow down to avoid wrecking their own vehicle, let alone another vehicle or in this case, an individual, when they see a tow truck, not moving, on the side of the road with it's lights on?

I will be watching for the full story. This is truely a tragedy and a very sad day.

  2. This may sound like a stupid question, but...was the naked couple on the road or parked on the side of the road? Just wondering because you did not specifically say. Not that it is relevent. A crash is a crash and you stated this was caused by another driver driving DUI on the wrong side of the road. Glad to hear this accident wasn't any worse.

  3. Always seeing this type of news bring tears to my eyes. My heart is truly hurting for this man's loved one's. My GOD! He was only 33 years old! Any person operating a motor vehicle, whether it be a car, truck, van, plow, tractor trailer, motorcycle, you get the point, on any roadway is in full control of their vehicle unless the vehicle has defects that causes the driver to lose that control or the driver is impaired or on their cell phone.  I would really like to know what this plow truck driver has to say about the incident that caused the death of this young man. Granted, conditions did not sound like they were good, but if there were emergency lights on how did he not notice them? I have seen emergency lights through snow squalls. And I am nearsighted which means my far vision is impaired.

  4. All this Tower down news is crazy! What is wrong with so many drivers today? I really don't get it. I grew up in a very rural area where First Responders were respected as much as our Service Members. I sure do have a lead foot but when there are bodies out working or directing traffic ----no. People just won't get it until they are a part of this horrific news. Prayers for a speedy recovery!

  5. My boss goes every year with a group of employees. I haven't been able to attend the show myself because it usually falls on my (8 this year) grandsons' birthday. I do not live close to them. But the boss will be there with a smaller group this year. I have heard that an ex Bala employee is going to be interviewed by Towman Magazine at the show this year. Not sure which day. At any rate, Bala will be there on Saturday as always.
