  2. Can't wait to get them installed and setup! Thanks for the help from Tom and Devon at Hass Alert
  3. I would like to take this moment and ask how many of you have been towing E.V and Hybrids from accident scenes? If so, how are you storing them on your property? Now when we get a call for an accident on either one, there are many steps you have to follow. When you are pulling the vehicle up on your bed, or putting them in dolly wheels, the the vehicle can not roll even 1/2 mile an hour. So the vehicle must stay in gear and emergency brake must be on at the same time. If it doesn’t, you could charge up the batteries and cause a thermo runway, catching them vehicle on fire. The vehicle also could weigh 1500 to 2000 lbs more than a regular vehicle. Not that this is a problem, but you should be aware of the resistance. Now when getting back to the shop there's a whole lot of other problems. When storing them, you have to have a minimum of 50 ft all the way around the car. That is about 1/2 an acre for ONE vehicle. The next thing is storing this ticking time bomb, because if it catches fire, it can take up to 2 hours and 5000 to 6000 gallons of water, to put them out. A gasoline vehicle might take 25-30 minutes and 500 gallons of water and foam. So what we did, was we built a concrete structure and called it our decontamination and burn pit. If a car were to catch on fire we would be able to contain it. When storing them, we lift the front of the vehicle with jack stands so they can be stored at a 15 degree angle. Before beginning any of this, we call The E.S.A. They tell us what we need to do and how long we have to hold the vehicle. We also go out with a thermo imaging camera, up to 3 times a day, to check on the batteries. I know this was long, but would like to hear what you think. Here's pictures of my burn pit.
  4. Tow Truck Operator..... For all the guys and girls wanting to drive a Wrecker, take a close look before you sign on the dotted line : Yes you work on the white line Yes cars zip by at 90 with no care about your safety Yes the wages can be good Yes you can up your lifestyle with a nice home, cars and toys. Yes the financial rewards are tempting Yes it gets in your blood Yes it gets rough Yes you get considerable time at home when you are at home Yes you miss Family and loved ones Yes Relationships will be strained and pushed to breaking point Yes you wish your life away when you are away Yes you lay awake at night sometimes wondering "why do I do this" and "Is this really worth it" SO ??? BEFORE YOU EMBARK ON A TRIP AND SIGN YOUR LIFE AWAY, REMEMBER; You may not come home at night You may be out 24 plus hours at a time You may see things you dont want You may not make every party, BBQ, wedding or funeral You may not be home for Christmas or easter You may not be there for your children's birthdays You may not see your kids swim, ride a bike for the first time or be there to read stories at night You may not be there to take them to watch sports games You may not be there for presentation nights, school plays or parent/teacher interviews You may not be there to see them win medals at school sports days No you will not always be there during times of family crisis and feel helpless being so far away No you might not be there to bury a family member or close friend So, before anybody judges someone who has the guts and courage to work away to try and make a better life for themselves and those around them, DONT say "YOU MUST BE MINTED" or "YOUR LUCKY'. These people sacrifice more than half of their life being away from loved ones to make their dreams comes true......I LOVE MY JOB!! This is copied and not mine.
  5. These days I feel bad for my youngest son Bryce Watson that he is not in school with all of his friends. And playing the sports he loves so much. But on the other hand I love having him around, he makes me laugh so hard at times with the songs he makes up the things that he says and for a little boy he has the biggest heart and he can work and keep up with all the adults, watching him grow into a young man is awesome. Yesterday I got to watch him run the Rotator and today we were pulling a truck that went off the road and he makes a snowman so if you see the snowman at mile 117 north in sidney he was he one that made it and would like everyone to wave.
  6. One thing I hate is carrying a bunch of hoses so I add these 75 foot recoil air lines. I couldn't have asked for a better job from Bri-Designs out of Oakland Maine for the wrap he had done on Truck #42 he has been working on this project for a little over 8 months to make sure it was done right and trying to working freightliner. It seemed every time Brian had it in the books it kept getting pushed back. But what a awesome job. Bri-Designs thank you.
