  2. You might have been a little slow but I know you have been making money! I see the hazmat clean up recovery equipment out that means money in the bank!!! Lol keep up the good work. Now that you mentioned it I guess I've been a little slow towing also but I haven't noticed or realized it because I have been busy as shit the past few weeks from all the rain we've had. I have had a bunch of stuck and in the ditch winch outs. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
  3. I never knew of the increased dangers honestly... We are in the 90% area, about 3 hrs from the total eclipse area.
  4. Our towing has been kind of slow but other aspects of our company are doing well and "carrying" the load. Here's a few recent jobs... Brand new 24' Pete towed in for an oil leak... Fortunately it was minor so we were able to clean everything up after a replaced oil fill cap. Theft recovery on a 26' Uhaul that was 3 weeks late coming back. Turned up that a manager saw the truck in a Hotel parking lot and pulled the fuel pump relay....something they neglected to tell us. I got on scene and just started hooking so I could scoot out of there but the renter came out. We had a "chat" and set the ground rules...and then I took the truck. Found out the issue the next morning so a simple repair and it was back to Uhaul. Fire truck that we are repairing from a crash incident. This was a little different...one of our large gated communities contacted us to clean up a oil mess made from a delivery truck that dumped oil in their roadway... We didn't know how big of a deal it was so loaded for "bear" but it was pretty simple... Nice job that we are billing to the property owner and they can figure out how to get reimbursed or insurance.
  5. Friend of mine is building a new car wrecker and was unhappy with the factory paint on the unit. They decided to trailer it to us so we could refinish it... It wasn't terrible but dry in spots and they missed a few areas...but unfortunately with what these trucks cost, you expect them to be A1 Perfect! We removed the winches, rope and assorted components prior to painting... The manufacturer agreed to pay for the repair so we shot it this week... First we shot the rear panels, the wheel lift tube & fly boom with a "tintable" Raptor Liner. Then we did a complete over coat with his color in base coat/clear coat... This way, for one the color would not alter due to the different base finishes and now when it gets a scratch or chip, it will still be silver under the paint. My last wrecker they covered in a black bed liner material and if it got a scratch, it was black under the white & stood out... All back together and ready to go back for the body install at the dealer...
  6. Nice work...getting wet in the cold sucks so "charge accordingly"...LoL

  8. We are promoting the slow-down move-over movement in Keagan’s memory. I would like to invite all of my towing friends to bring a truck and help spread the word for all of our safety. The public is welcome to come out and see up close and personal state-of-the-art tow trucks. We are still in the planning stages so stay tuned as we have the schedule of events secured.

  10. New York's 'Move Over' Law now expanded to require drivers to move over for all vehicles Another News Video: https://youtu.be/4mMTkkZqzhw?si=2-pDYQvQvyDTN3Y- BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — Joshua Smith knows better than anyone how dangerous it can be on the side of the road. He's been a tow truck driver with Rusiniak's Service in Cheektowaga for six years and he makes it a point to always be on guard and to look over his shoulder when he's roadside helping a stranded customer. He notices how the cars driving by don't always slow down. "Speed past us. They don't slow down or they wait until the last minute to slow down that's going to cause another accident," he said. "...And then as soon as you hear the rumble strips, you either, you gotta dart out of the way guys." Every year in the U.S., about 300 people are killed while outside their vehicles. On Wednesday, a new law goes into effect in New York State requiring drivers to slow down and move over for all vehicles on the shoulder. https://www.wkbw.com/news/local-news/new-yorks-move-over-law-now-expanded-to-require-drivers-to-move-over-for-all-vehicles https://youtu.be/OCifeuSEPiU?si=FkiVJ06YFkGAyXcW https://youtu.be/QE6xXjstZkw?si=zFALy-o7ODbhE1wf
  11. 52-year-old Granvell K. Ramey of Davenport has been arrested after police say he was texting when he ran over a woman with his tow truck and fled the scene. DAVENPORT, Iowa — Davenport police have arrested a man in connection to a vehicle vs. pedestrian crash that left a woman seriously injured. 52-year-old Granvell K. Ramey of Davenport has been arrested and charged with the following: Serious Injury by Vehicle-Reckless by Use of Electronic Device Serious Injury Hit and Run Prevention Apprehension/Obstructing Prosecution Reckless Driving Fail to Obey Stop Sign (five counts) Duty of Driver – Failure to Yield to a Pedestrian Use of Electronic Communication Device While Driving The arrest stems from a March 13 vehicle vs. pedestrian crash in which police say Ramey was driving a tow truck when he struck a woman who had the right of way at the intersection of Rockingham Road and South Concord Street, seriously injuring her. According to a criminal complaint, Ramey ran over the woman with the tow truck, causing injuries including a right femur fracture, pelvic fracture, left pneumothorax and multiple rib fractures. Police say video footage from Ramey's tow truck and nearby businesses identified him as the driver of the tow truck. Police say the video shows Ramey knowingly running the victim over, and then leaving the scene. Ramey conducted an improper turn at the intersection of the crash, with his tow truck not completely to the right of the center line while turning, according to police. Video showed Ramey using his phone while driving just before the crash. Ramey deleted text messages and phone call records following the crash, according to police. The incident occurred during a three-mile drive, in which police say Ramey drove at times with no hands on the steering wheel while using his phone and also committing several other traffic infractions. Co-workers also identified Ramey as the driver. Police say Ramey admitted to driving the tow truck involved in the crash. The pedestrian was identified as a 43-year-old woman. She was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries. No update has been provided on her condition. No other injuries were reported. The incident remains under investigation.
  12. Police say a lane closure is planned on the Hwy 401 after a tow truck carrying a heavy load went off the road east of Belleville, Ont. Emergency crews were called after the westbound heavy tow truck pulling a concrete pump truck hit the shoulder and ended up in a ditch between the Hwy 37 and Shannonville Road exits around 2 p.m. Monday. The driver of the tow truck sustained minor injuries in the crash and was treated by paramedics at the scene. Police say the crash left the tow truck flipped on its side but still connected to the concrete pump truck. Recovery of the vehicles is planned for Saturday and police warn that drivers should expect delays as a lane closure is planned starting at 10 a.m. Police say no charges were laid in connection with the crash.
  13. I do not know that I want to get into all the hype surrounding the April 8th Total Solar Eclipse. However, we do want to take a moment to ensure that companies are aware of the increased hazards that exist during such events. I would highly recommend keeping trucks off the roadways for the very few minutes this solar event occurs in your area. Why you ask, because distracted driving increases as this is just one more factor we have to be aware of. In this article, a 33 percent increase in fatal accidents was recorded for the solar eclipse in 2017. It's only for a few minutes. Awareness of this Hazard should be considered an accident prevention period. ARTICLE: Motorists may need to brace themselves for travel surrounding the upcoming April 8 total solar eclipse, as research has found that fatal collisions increased during the last eclipse that darkened U.S. skies. There was a 31 percent rise in fatal traffic accidents during the 2017 total eclipse and in the days before and after it, according to a new research letter published this week in the journal JAMA Internal Medicine. This was attributed primarily to an influx of people driving across the country to get a glimpse of the eclipse, the researchers say. The 2017 eclipse, which occurred on August 21, passed southeast from the Pacific Northwest down through South Carolina, while the 2024 eclipse will begin in Texas and pass over the Midwest and New England. "For the eclipse on April 8th, totality will last for a maximum of 4 minutes and 27 seconds, although this will depend on where within the path someone is viewing it from. The duration of totality will vary slightly between the pacific coast of Mexico and Newfoundland in Canada," Ryan Milligan, a lecturer in astrophysics at Queen's University Belfast told Newsweek. "However, as the moon's shadow is circular, it will also depend on how close one is to the center of the path. The closer to the middle, the longer it will be." The area of totality in 2017 was only around 70 miles wide, but the researchers found that road traffic fatality rates increased from an average of 7.9 per hour during the weeks before and after to 10.3 per hour on average in the three days spanning the eclipse. "The 2017 total solar eclipse was widely anticipated because the path of totality (locations experiencing a total eclipse) fell within 300 miles of driving distance for a third of all individuals in the US. An estimated 20 million people in the US traveled away from home to another city to view the eclipse, resulting in substantial road traffic," the authors wrote in the paper. "We hypothesized that the eclipse was associated with increased risks of a fatal traffic crash." You can read the rest of the story here. https://www.newsweek.com/solar-eclipse-traffic-collisions-danger-warning-1883715 If you made it this far in this topic, can you reply if you are in the direct path of the total eclipse? Is awareness a concern?
  14. Also..I've always been intrigued by the world of heavy-duty towing and recovery, but it's something I've only ever seen depicted in movies. Hearing about your training experience firsthand makes it all seem more real and accessible. If you're still exploring opportunities for further learning and development, have you considered looking into hrd corp claimable courses? They could provide a valuable avenue for expanding your skills and knowledge in related fields, complementing the hands-on experience you're gaining.
  15. The company was sold out a few years ago to I believe Zipp's/AW Direct. If you contact them, they should be able to help.
