Jerr Dan wheel scoop pivot point
I was out tonight and noticed the locking pins on my pivot points for the wheel scoops were not engaged down in the wheel grid after I lifted the vehicle. It seems like there should be shims on the top side of the pivot pin to take up the play so the locking pins will engage. Everything was tight, the scoops stayed in place and it traveled well with no issues. I don't see the reason for the pins if they don't engage. The Vulcan I used to have had pins that dropped in once you installed the scoops. I looked at the parts breakdown for the wheel grid and it doesn't show shims or washers and my pivot pins do not seem to be worn. I could make them if I need to, just not …

Rollback paint
Anyone done the epoxy garage flooring on a rollback bed? I've seen it done once but never heard of what the results are, Is it slick? Is it durable? Ballpark cost? Seems to me like it would be a worth while investment as I can see it being durable and easy to maintain as well as depending on what you use you could have a really cool good looking design with the metallic multi colored epoxy pours. If you haven't done the epoxy how else do you maintain or repaint your rollback beds?

How much does it cost for a tow truck body?
Hi I am thinking about purchasing 18 or 19 ft carrier or a wrecker unit for a cab and chassis that I have already. The truck is a 1996 Chevy 3500 HD with a 15000 lb GVWR manual transmission diesel engine. The truck has the super long wheelbase option from the factory. I have been looking around at different manufacturers and bodies but it seems like the entire industry has made the prices a secret. I have my own shop and I could probably install the body by myself but I'm wondering what the price range is or a new one. I would like to be educated before I call different dealerships because I would have no idea if they're quoting me a fair price or not. Has anyone purchase…

Question about rotation noise in truck
I have a 2021 international 4300 series, has little over 5000 miles. Since day one this truck has had a annoying rotation sound in sixth gear. If you are driving down road and let off fuel it goes away, or if shifted in 5th gear it goes away. It does it between 60 and 70 miles an hour the most. Dealership told me it was front tires, have put new set on and no differnce. Took to another dealership, they can hear noise but dont know what it is, and dont think it will cause any major problems. Problem is , it is very annoying. Anyone have any ideas what this could be.

Re: Friendship First Versus Employee?
A month ago, a close friend and long-time tow owner and I had lunch talking about what’s and happenings going on? He mentioned that one of his drivers (another long-time friend of mine) had three damages in the last quarterly reporting period. Two damages were carrier related suspension damages, and one was a backing incident where he backed an auction car into another auction car during auction. The suspension repair costs weren’t something to send to insurance and the auction car damages were a wash. The owner asked me for advice and I know he was struggling with the issue of firing the driver versus keeping him on? For sure, that’s a hard choice. In my min…

Re: Do You Charge for Mud-Clean-Up After ? ? ?
This was a fun conversation where a new tow owner called today asking if he could charge for the two-hours spent after an extreme-winch, off-road, mud clean-up? Now, keep in-mind that he responded to a private call to winch some guys from the mud, and then got stuck himself. While I have my own thoughts about this, what would do you do after-the-fact, when every nook and cranny on your truck's undercarriage is coated with thick ooze? Do you / can you charge for it, or, is it a cost of doing business? What do you think? R.

I want a 4WD box truck. About 19000 gross. They dont exist. How easy is it to figure out if i can take off the roll back and mount a box? I mean, as in, will the frame of the box match the vehicle frame? Or would it require a lot of cutting and welding? I dont own the truck or box yet, just wondering what to look for or to avoid.
