It’s hard to put this into words after owning the company for 39 years and me working in it for 22 with Steve, as of tomorrow Schmit towing has been sold. Steve will still be working there because he wouldn’t know what else to do with himself at least for quite some time but a new chapter in our lives is starting. I’ll probably just hang out in Florida. Here’s to us and to Steve and Schmit Towing!

A tow operator died Tuesday, Aug. 31, after police said he failed to stop for a red light and crashed into a tractor-trailer in Dearborn, Mich. Police said the operator, a 55-year-old Lincoln Park man, was exiting eastbound I-94 at approximately 1 p.m. when he hit the semi. The operator and a 67-year-old passenger were ejected from the tow truck. The operator died at the scene. The passenger suffered serious injuries. The driver of the tractor-trailer was uninjured. The light-duty winner of the 2020 Shine ‘n Star contest — a 2018 Ram with a Century 612 is the personal truck of Scott Wolff, owner of Iron Horse Towing in Missoula, Mt. Along with the truck’s scenic wrap of Montana-themed images that include bighorn sheep, moose, ducks and geese is a custom-engineered push bumper with a 15,000-lb. winch, jumpstart and air fittings and a custom light pylon.
