Took the two of them to tow this up the hill, diff gone

A bit to one side, two of them again

Not salvage but an interesting roadblock, the chopper was used to slice

loose material off the hill, we moved the digger in for the cleanup.

After 2 weeks trying to get permits, carted this Tauranga to Auckland on Sat night to fit with motorway closure
130T total train weight, beam 78.6T, total train length 45.2m, beam length 28.0m
5 hrs for 220km, a sigh of relief all round when we got there, was first serious workout for "JINKA", handled it well

On old Western Star logger, fitted with Hino turbo 300HP, 13sp Road Ranger, original diffs. Cab all built inhouse, has all the toys, aircon etc
Only problem is stones etc chucked up from front trailer, a set of mudflaps will solve this although haven't struck a wet weather job yet, that may be a different story!!!!

A man has been seriously injured after being caught between a tow truck and a car.

Emergency services were called to the incident on Avonhead Rd, just north of Maidstone Rd, about 4.30pm on Monday. 

A police spokeswoman said initial reports suggested the man was caught between a vehicle, and the truck towing the vehicle. 

A St John spokesman said the man was taken to Christchurch Hospital with serious injuries. 

A Christchurch Transport Operations Centre spokesman said motorists should expect delays until the road was cleared.

Since the news report does not state anyone else was involved we can only assume this was the Tow Operator.

Logging Trucks

Off hiway logger jumped out of gear at the top of a very steep hill, driver couldn't pull it up on the brakes & actually bailed out of the truck before it went over the bank.  We had very little room to set up the trucks for the recovery, once the tractor was seperated from the trailer it all went pretty smooth.

A lot of the accidents of late around here have been due to drivers having a wee sleep! Here are a few examples.

This one happened the same morning as the one we had over the bank. Trailer was only a week old.

One the guy's did a couple of weeks ago, driver lost control on wet road & wet over bank,  Everyone made it out ok, organized a digger to clear a pad to recover bus. Cheers.

I'm pretty sure they are a 22.5'' rim, not sure exactly but something like a 13.00 x 22.5, the tyres on the recovery truck are only 19.5's with a low profile tyre.
