TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Tow truck operator John Hubbard knew his life purpose early on. Hubbard asked for a job at Passmore Towing and Recovery in Bessemer at age 20. Tow Operator Killed During A Dispute: BIRMINGHAM,AL (WBRC) - Two men were shot to death around 1pm today in the 2000 Block of 15th Way South West in Birmingham. Birmingham Police say a repo man and a man believed to be the owner of a Ford Focus being repossessed were both killed. Prosecutors said Sheridan Temms was driving 90 miles per hour before she collided with a parked car that struck and killed John William Hubbard on the side of Interstate 20/59. Temms said she crashed into the median-side guardrail when another driver pulled into her lane to avoid the tow truck. She crossed back over two lanes of traffic before hitting the parked car on the shoulder. A jury trial began Monday for a Tuscaloosa driver involved in a fatal collision that left a tow truck driver dead more than three years ago. Sheridan Temms crashed into a disabled vehicle that struck John William Hubbard as he worked an early-morning wreck about a mile from the McFarland Boulevard exit of Interstate 20/59. DAR School student killed in Marshall County wreck An 18-year-old student at DAR School in Grant was killed in a crash Friday morning, according to Alabama State Troopers. Family members have identified him as Eli Spray, a member of the school's football team Troopers say the crash was between a Mitsubishi Eclipse being driven by Spray and a tow truck. Spray, who was on his way to school, died on impact about 8:30 a.m., troopers said. The wreck took place in the 6,300 block of Simpson Point Road. Troopers continue to investigate the crash. Alabama Towing & Recovery Association has released this death notification: We just received word that Mrs. Faye Harrelson, owner of Harrelson Body Shop and Towing passed away today (09/14/2019). Our thoughts and prayers go out to her family. Harrelson Body Shop and Towing has been a staple in the Mobile towing community since 1979. Faye’s husband, R.B. was a pioneer in the wrecker community and an advocate to fairness with the city ordinance and helping to fix it back in the early writings of it.. LANETT — A passenger bus caught on fire while being towed Tuesday night on Interstate 85 Southbound, according to Lanett Fire Chief Johnny Allen. Allen said nobody was inside of the bus when it caught on fire and the driver of the tow truck was not injured. He said the tow truck did receive some fire damage. Alabama tow operators organized a procession to honor operator Richard Wilson, 53, who died weeks from injuries sustained when he was hit by a vehicle July 29 on I-85 in Montgomery, Ala. Wilson, who worked for Jacobs Towing, was hit while loading a vehicle on his tow truck at approximately 6:45 p.m. He died three weeks later. All lanes of West Meighan at Hastings Park in Gadsden have reopened after a collision between a train and a wrecker. The crash happened just before 10 a.m. Friday. A flatbed wrecker belonging to Auto Towing and Recovery, collided with the freight train, stopping the train. Police say as far as they know, no one was transported from the scene by ambulance.
