Forklift Dilema..

Recommended Posts

Driver parked a truck against the dock & didn't set the brakes...Warehouse guy goes to load and the truck rolled away. Fortunately nobody was hurt...

I ran 2 rim slings around the mast frame to lift and put my under reach against the machine as a safety so it wouldn't come forward. I wanted a lower hook point but couldn't access anywhere that I felt comfortable lifting on. The load dock was angled down & I didn't want to take a chance..

I miscalculated though and there wasn't enough room to get the machine & my boom head through the door opening. So I put my forks on and lifted the machine up & supported with the under reach. Then I could unhook & re-rig the unit. Used 2 foundry hooks on the lower brace & kept my boom under the mast height.

Then I just backed it in the building & unhooked.

It's all steel underneath not going to hurt a thing. But hooking under the mast is a good strong point on these things figure it weighed appx 10k to 12k. Nice use of the wl as well to keep it from going over the edge
